The Rev. Samuel Watson and part of his congregation having declined the General Synod of Ulster, were received into the Remonstrant ( Unitarian) Synod on 9th September 1835.

The meeting of tghe Remonstrant Synod was a Pro-re-nata one, held at Belfast. The members of the Killinchy Congregation present with the minister were: Robt. Clarke, Anthony Taylor, Dr. Hays. Robt. Carse, John Patton, David Reid and JAMES OSBORNE. The names of Samuel H. Barry, Andrew Dickson and Matthew Wilson were also appended to the Memorial.

On the 6th of December 1835, the Rev. David Anderson was ordained in charge of the Trinitarian Section of the Congreation, who it would appear worshipped in a temoorary building until the old Meeting house was regaied by process of law in 1841.
